Brief History of Valley Springs Church

Vision is where it all started. The Lord has planted a vision in the hearts of a small group of people in North-East Fresno and they began praying for a bible-believing Filipino-American Church to be planted. Our mission is to Glorify God and Disciple Men.

Humble Beginnings

A group of people started having bible studies on Friday evenings at the Villaverde residence. After having their youngest child dedicated on April 20, 2005, this group of people decided to meet with Pastor David Mortiz and they talked about starting a church plant work in Fresno and Clovis.  At that time, Pastor David Mortiz was serving as associate pastor of Cornerstone International Christian Church.

Move to Woodward Park Baptist Church

The group grew larger and through the kindness and generosity of WPBC they were able to use the church’ Children’s facility every Friday.  In August 2006, Pastor David and his family moved to Fresno, and begun their full-time ministry and thus Valley Springs was born.  The Friday Worship Service was launched on August 11, 2006.  The Lord still continued to bless His church.

Move to Garfield

As the group grew in number, the church decided to move to another facility in March 2007 so Sunday worship services could be started. The first service was launched on March 25, 2007 at Garfield Elementary School.

It has been the church’ mission to reach out to our “kababayans” and Filipino-Americans here in northeast Fresno and Clovis for Christ with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Move to Clovis West HS

As the group grew in number, the church decided to move to another facility in  March 25, 2008. The Lord still continued to bless His church.

Move to Maple & Jackson church facility

As the group grew in number and resources, the church decided to rent a church facility at 7407 N. Maple Avenue, formerly occupied by Grace Community Church. Our name was changed to Valley Springs Church and moved here in 2009. Pastor Carlito Villanueva became our senior pastor in late 2010. The church property was sold in 2016 and we moved again.

Move to present facility (First Free Will Baptist Church)

We are presently renting this facility and holding our Sunday service  at 1:30pm. Our prayer is for our next move to be in our very own God-ordained church facility. We have a building fund campaign on-going and we know in the near future our hearts desires will be granted in His time.

This September 2017 marks our 12th Church anniversary! Please join us in this celebration! We are very grateful to God for He is faithful. Great is His faithfulness and Amazing is His love!

VALLEY SPRINGS is where it is today because of the committed efforts of men and women who embraced the purposes by which they have been called by God to do as a church in this area.  Focused on fulfilling its vision and mission to To create a community of believers in bringing people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ (Evangelism) by connecting them to His church family (Fellowship), developing them to become more like Him (Discipleship), equipping them for their ministry in the church and life mission in the world (Ministry), for the glory of God (Worship).
