The NATURE OF THE CHURCH

DIVINE ORIGIN
God has revealed Himself in many ways and many times throughout the centuries.

-
God revealed Himself through Abraham
-
The nation of Israel was an instrument of God’s revelation.
-
God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to proclaim the message of salvation. (John 14:6)
-
Christ entrusted His Church to redeemed persons to forward God’s Plan on earth. (Matthew 16:18)

DIVINE LEADERSHIP

-
As the head of the Church, Christ provides continuing leadership. The Church is His Body.
-
Christ purchased the Church with His own blood (Acts 20:28)
-
Christ, as leader of the Church, has all power (authority). (Matthew 28:18).
DIVINE PURPOSE
Christ established the Church to carry out His divine purpose. Believers are to gather or assemble for the following reasons:

-
To spiritual fellowship
-
For encouragement
-
For training
-
To worship God
-
To proclaim Christ’s message of redemption. (Matthew 28:19-20)

Members of the Church are to carry out their purpose in a spirit of love.
…..”By this shall all men know that you are my disciples if you have love For one another.” (John 13:34-35)
